Tim Smith Kuehne+Nagel, in conversation with Julie Swann, associate professor, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and co-director of the Health and Humanitarian Logistics Center at Georgia Tech, discussing Mr. Smith's thoughts on working in disaster response. Kuehne + Nagel supports humanitarian efforts of governmental, non-governmental and charitable organizations dealing with a wide range of local or regional emergencies. Kuehne + Nagel, which has experience handling long-term projects and ad-hoc crises, provides the ability to arrange transport, whether via sea, air or overland, partial or full charter; has 24/7 warehouse services and logistics handling capabilities at emergency sites; has local field specialists in Africa, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Caucasus, Central and Latin America, and Southeast Asia; and strategically located storage and warehousing, allowing immediate dispatch of emergency medical items, water purification kits, food and housing materials.
